Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Koori Club
The Koori Club is a vibrant group of First Nations students who come together weekly to celebrate, explore, and share their culture and history. Our members engage in a variety of creative activities, including exploring different artistic mediums and developing performances that feature singing, playing clapping sticks and dancing. We are passionate about deepening our understanding of First Nations history and traditions through ongoing learning. We are fortunate to be supported by two dedicated First Nations School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs), who enrich our experience by sharing their knowledge and lived cultural insights. Although our group is small, we are united by a strong commitment to learning from and connecting with the land on which we live.
Chess Team 2025
2025 was a busy and exciting year for the CPS Chess Club! We have met every Friday at lunchtime with so many students picking up the fundamentals of how to move pieces and play games. For the more experienced students we have regular friendly matches across year groups with a focus on fair play, finishing moves and problem solving.
This year we participated in the Interschools NSW chess competition. In the Macarthur round at the Campbelltown RSL. We faced around 20 schools from across the area winning a lot of our matches. The team ended up as a school coming 3rd place and progressed through to the Sydney area Semi-Finals. The Semi Finals took place at Canley Vale Public School and the team competed with fairness and determination. We were close to making it through to the NSW Finals and missed out by 1 point overall on the day moving us into 4th position.
We have led the way with our community of schools and have hosted interschool friendly competitions with schools such as Blairmount PS.
We look forward to more matches and club meetings in 2026. Thankyou to all the players involved!
Jumpstart
Jumpstart is our Transition to Kindergarten program, delivered during Terms 3 and 4. The aim of the program is to strengthen children’s social skills prior to starting school, familiarise them with the school environment, and support them in forming new friendships. Led by our Kindergarten teachers, Jumpstart offers engaging play-based sessions designed to help children feel confident, comfortable, and ready for their first year of school.
CPS.FM - Kid Powered Radio
Our Radio group - CPS.FM - Kid Powered Radio is one of the extra curricular activities offered to students at Campbelltown Public School. Working with Ziffo from 100.3 The Sounds of Macarthur, students learn the art of radio broadcasting, and how to prepare and produce a broadcast. Our students are in control, and decide on the content and music to be share. Students undertaking the project learn how to become better organised, improve there speech and their confidence. Students will then broadcast there show during lunch time, two or three times a week or during one of our special school events.
